Course Description：

 Course design of electrical machines is a practical course, through the completion design of a motor (single-phase series motor or induction motor) of the specific engineering design task, the students can master the design process of this kind of motor. Grasp the basic principles of single-phase series motor(or induction motor) as well as the basic structure, and have deeper understanding of the electromagnetic parameters and performance characteristics of the motor. It is important to combining the learned knowledge, especially the physical meaning of each variable of motor design theory with the calculation procedures, formula. Complete the electromagnetic design program by programming method, designs the main parameters of main electric components of the electromagnetic structure and performance parameters. Submit the electromagnetic design list of motor. Also finish the structure design with the help of the learned course of motor design course. By the use of computer graphics methods, the students can draw relevant mechanical drawings and parts drawings as well.

It is a course specifically for the undergraduate students in Department of Electrical Engineering. At the end of the course, students will have capability of design major class of motor drives. The course includes two parts: teaching of theory and design method, simulation and design on computers.
